A Modern Processing Acceleration Architecture to Address Advances in I/O
The Kodiak platform includes several performance-oriented innovations, made possible by an embedded architecture that breaks free from status quo legacy data upload practices in favor of advanced, optimized embedded data processing, fully reimagined by SerialTek engineering from the ground up to handle latest- and future-generation PCIe and NVMe technologies. Interface responsiveness is markedly advanced, searches involving massive amounts of data are fast, and hardware filtering is flexible and powerful. Dual 10GbE SFP+ ports are available to offload traces to a host computer or network directory at speeds up to 20Gbps. A 10GbE port is provided for network-based trace storage and retrieval. Local storage choices include USB 3.1 and PCI Express OCuLink.

The German company PEAK-System has published the handheld device PCAN-MiniDiag FD for the basic diagnosis and fast checking of CAN and CAN FD buses. The battery-powered device has functions which show, for example, the termination, bus load, message and error counters as well as the levels at the CAN connection. In particular, for the first time, users can access any CAN network in a matter of seconds with the innovative transmission rate detection. More precisely, bit timing measurements are used to determine the nominal bit rate for CAN and the data bit rate for CAN FD.
The PCAN-MiniDiag FD can easily be operated with one hand due to its compact size and fits into any conventional trouser or jacket pocket. SANBlaze Technology, Inc. announced that it successfully demonstrated NVMe target emulation over RoCE and Fibre Channel at the University of New Hampshire’s first ever plug fest for NVMe-oF™ (NVMe over Fabrics).
The NVMe-oF Plug Fest was held during, June 18-22 2018, at the UNH-IOL facility in Durham, NH USA. Attendees were able to see real-world testing of NVMe over RoCE and NVMe over Fibre Channel on both initiators and targets using SANBlaze’s testing platform.

PEAK-System launched a compact USB adapter called PLIN-USB for connecting a computer to a LIN network. The LIN adapter is intended for service technicians for diagnosis of LIN buses and for developers of vehicle networks. Tesla owners are required to have the PCAN-USB adapter and Tesla’s Event Data Recorder (EDR) Retrieval Program to generate a PDF report outlining the findings from their electric cars’ data recorder.
Tesla is now allowing owners of its vehicles to access their cars’ Event Data Recorder (EDR), commonly known as the ‘black box’ of autos, through a set of licensed tools and software.
As noted by Tesla on its official help page for its EDR user guide, all of the company’s vehicles save for the original Roadster are equipped with an Event Data Recorder. The recording devices are only activated once the vehicle senses a non-trivial physical occurrence in the vehicle. Thus, during normal driving conditions, the EDR is deactivated.
In the event that data logs from the EDR need to be accessed, however, Tesla’s new set of proprietary tools and software can retrieve data from the vehicle’s black box. The following hardware is required to gain access to the data to the Model S, X, and 3’s EDR.
