SerialTek SerialTek, a leading provider of protocol test solutions for PCI Express® (PCIe), NVM Express® (NVMe), Serial Attached SCSI (SAS), and Serial ATA (SATA), today introduced a major advancement in the PCIe/NVMe test and analysis market with the debut of its SI-Fi line of interposers. Coupled with the recently announced Kodiak™ PCIe/NVMe Gen4 Analysis System, SerialTek’s SI-Fi interposers uniquely solve complex issues relating to signal quality and system transparency, and eliminate the need for cumbersome, time-intensive calibration and tuning routines. Lauterbach, the leading manufacturer of microprocessor development tools, has announced that they have extended the kernel awareness for SAFERTOS from WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems on all Arm® processors. The new SAFERTOS awareness provides easy access to task lists and other kernel information, generates performance analysis data and enables customers to carry out effective debugging with the TRACE32 systems on targets running SAFERTOS. SAFERTOS is a pre-emptive, safety critical Real Time Operating System (RTOS) available precertified to IEC 61508 SIL3 and ISO 26262 ASIL D. SAFERTOS is used internationally across a range of safety critical applications and is renowned for its high quality, delivering unprecedented levels of determinism and robustness to embedded systems whilst using minimal resources.

The new software package from Lauterbach contains a ready-to run configuration for the SAFERTOS Real Time Kernel. The SAFERTOS awareness for TRACE32 allows the developer to display all SAFERTOS system resources including task information, dynamic thread performance measurement, and SAFERTOS specific display of trace listing, as well as statistic evaluation and graphic display of task and function run times, PRACTICE functions for OS Data, and SAFERTOS related Pull-Down Menu.

All features of the TRACE32 awareness for SAFERTOS do not require any additional target configuration or any hooks or patches within the OS itself. The German company PEAK-System has published the handheld device PCAN-MiniDiag FD for the basic diagnosis and fast checking of CAN and CAN FD buses. The battery-powered device has functions which show, for example, the termination, bus load, message and error counters as well as the levels at the CAN connection. In particular, for the first time, users can access any CAN network in a matter of seconds with the innovative transmission rate detection. More precisely, bit timing measurements are used to determine the nominal bit rate for CAN and the data bit rate for CAN FD.

The PCAN-MiniDiag FD can easily be operated with one hand due to its compact size and fits into any conventional trouser or jacket pocket. SANBlaze Technology, Inc. announced that it successfully demonstrated NVMe target emulation over RoCE and Fibre Channel at the University of New Hampshire’s first ever plug fest for NVMe-oF™ (NVMe over Fabrics).

USB adapter for LIN with master/slave functionality

PEAK-System launched a compact USB adapter called PLIN-USB for connecting a computer to a LIN network. The LIN adapter is intended for service technicians for diagnosis of LIN buses and for developers of vehicle networks. Tesla owners are required to have the PCAN-USB adapter and Tesla’s Event Data Recorder (EDR) Retrieval Program to generate a PDF report outlining the findings from their electric cars’ data recorder.

Tesla is now allowing owners of its vehicles to access their cars’ Event Data Recorder (EDR), commonly known as the ‘black box’ of autos, through a set of licensed tools and software.

As noted by Tesla on its official help page for its EDR user guide, all of the company’s vehicles save for the original Roadster are equipped with an Event Data Recorder. The recording devices are only activated once the vehicle senses a non-trivial physical occurrence in the vehicle. Thus, during normal driving conditions, the EDR is deactivated.

In the event that data logs from the EDR need to be accessed, however, Tesla’s new set of proprietary tools and software can retrieve data from the vehicle’s black box. The following hardware is required to gain access to the data to the Model S, X, and 3’s EDR.

  • A Windows computer (Mac OSX and Linux are not supported)
  • A PCAN-USB, which is a USB-to-CAN adapter manufactured by Peak System
  • The appropriate Tesla Model S, X, or 3 cable from the EDR Retrieval Hardware Kit
